Saif Ali Khan Attack: Police release FIRST visual of attacker; CCTV footage shows suspect fleeing

The attacker who attacked Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan has been identified, and the first images of him have emerged. In the photo, the young assailant is seen wearing a T-shirt and backpack. He was running down the stairs as he fled from Saif’s Bandra residence. Earlier today, the Mumbai Police confirmed that the intruder gained access to the building through the fire escape stairs in the complex.

The shocking incident occurred early Thursday morning when Saif Ali Khan was repeatedly stabbed with a knife inside his 12th-floor apartment in the upscale Bandra area by an attacker. This attack raises significant concerns regarding security, motive, and the challenges of celebrity life.

At 54 years old, Saif was reported to be out of danger. This confirmation was after he underwent emergency surgery at Lilavati Hospital. He was rushed after the incident took place around 2:30 AM. His son, Ibrahim, quickly transported him to the hospital by auto, arriving around 3 AM. Saif’s wife, Kareena Kapoor, and sister-in-law, Karisma Kapoor, reached the hospital shortly after.

Ongoing Investigation

The Mumbai Police Crime Branch has formed seven teams to track down the attacker. Saif’s domestic help, who was the first to raise the alarm, also sustained a minor injury to her hand. She said it was during the scuffle and later filed a police complaint. Preliminary investigations suggest that the intruder did not forcibly break into the apartment. But he may have sneaked in at some point during the night.

Saif’s health update

Saif was treated by a team of doctors. Neurosurgeon Dr Nitin Dange, cosmetic surgeon Dr Leena Jain, and anesthesiologist Dr Nisha Gandhi were present. Dr. Niraj Uttamani, the hospital’s chief operating officer, provided further details. He stated that Saif sustained six injuries: two minor, two intermediate, and two deep, with one injury near his spine.

Dr. Dange elaborated, saying, “Saif sustained a major injury to his thoracic spine due to a knife. Surgery was performed to remove the knife and repair the leaking spinal fluid.” Two deep wounds on his left hand and the right side of his neck were also treated by the plastic surgery team. Saif is currently stable and in recovery, with plans to shift him from the ICU to a regular ward in a day or two.

Legal Action

The actor’s representatives characterized the incident as an attempted burglary. A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed at the Bandra police station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including 311 (robbery with intent to cause death or grievous hurt) and 331(4) (house break-in or trespass at night). Kareena and other family members were present in the house during the attack. The Mumbai police have released a picture of the intruder as part of their investigation.
